A website and a storefront solve different problems. Choosing the right first step can save time, money, and unnecessary setup.

Choose a service website first when...

  • You mainly sell services.

  • Customers need to request quotes or contact you before buying.

  • You need pages, forms, local-business information, and educational content.

Choose an ecommerce storefront first when...

  • You have defined products and prices.

  • Customers should be able to add items to cart and pay without talking to you first.

  • Orders, product inventory, and checkout are the center of the business.

For a commerce-first setup, Shopify is one option to evaluate. Wix also has ecommerce tools; you can review Wix eCommerce here.

The practical answer

Start with the path that matches how customers already need to buy from you. Add the second system only when it solves a real problem.
